About Shammy Homes
Furnished serviced apartments across Westlands, Kilimani, Kileleshwa, Riverside and Kisumu — booked direct, with self check-in and no front desk.
Shammy Homes started in 2021 with a plain observation about Nairobi: the city that pulls you in for work rarely gives you anywhere calm to land at the end of the day. Hotels bill you by the week for a front desk and a restaurant you stop using. Most short-lets go quiet the moment the Wi-Fi drops or a plan changes. Very little is built for the person who stays three weeks rather than three nights.
So we built for that person. Furnished apartments in the residential parts of the city — Westlands, Kilimani, Kileleshwa and Riverside in Nairobi, and Milimani in Kisumu — fitted for people who need to work, cook, sleep well and get on with why they came. Fast mesh Wi-Fi made for video calls, full kitchens, in-unit laundry, and smart-lock entry that works at 1am, because long-haul flights land when they land.
The look is deliberate. We call it Nature Distilled — forest green, gold and ivory; clean lines and room to breathe rather than every surface working to sell you something. Where jacaranda blooms meet glass towers, the apartment should feel like the quiet side of that street. The Japanese idea of ma, the value of the space between things, is why the rooms aren't crammed and the days spent in them feel unhurried.
And you book it direct. No platform sitting between you and the people who run the building, no OTA fee baked into the rate — pay by M-Pesa, card or Bitcoin, get a proper invoice if your employer needs one, and talk to a real person when plans change. A home in Nairobi, on your terms, from the people who actually look after it.
The practical reasons our guests — and the organisations that book for them — come back.
Our Nairobi apartments sit in and around the UN-designated security zones near Gigiri and Westlands — long favoured by diplomatic and NGO residents for their security profile and closeness to UNON.
Keyless entry with encrypted, single-use access codes and no physical key handover — so no shared keys ever circulate, and a midnight arrival never waits on a front desk.
Diana, our concierge, and the local team are one WhatsApp message away — from a late arrival to a changed date or a maintenance call. No ticket queue, no overseas call centre.
“I started Shammy Homes because I kept seeing the same gap — people coming to Nairobi for weeks or months, for the UN, an NGO posting, a contract or a long stretch of remote work, and stuck choosing between a hotel that costs a fortune by week two and a listing nobody picks up when something breaks.
We run every apartment ourselves, in buildings we know, with a team that answers. If something needs fixing, you talk to the people who can fix it. That's the standard I'd want as a guest, so it's the one we hold ourselves to.”
